Dear Reader,

When I was first presented with the opportunity to join the PAUSE Magazine team upon my showing of interest, I immediately jumped on board. And I am happy to say that five months later, my interest has never wavered. While my passion to build a platform where the creative and journalistic talents of students can run havoc has been there from the start, I think it’s the wonderful and talented team of editors and designers that have made working on this magazine such a joyful experience.

The road to today hasn’t been all smooth sailing, but we are proud to have brought you a collection of interesting pieces that highlight the unique thoughts and ideas of our Middle School student community. Over the past few months, our editors and designers have worked slowly but surely to bring the team’s collective vision to life. It is with your submissions that PAUSE Magazine’s first bi-annual issue for the 2021-22 academic year has become a reality, and we thank you for your support.

I hope that the collection of essays, artworks, and other creative expression present in this magazine can strike a chord with each and every one of you, ignite your curiosity, or even just lead to the tinniest of chuckles.

Yours sincerely,

Nandan Patil

Dear Reader,

I'll be the first to admit that I'm not exactly the most "artistically diverse" person. I can't tell a bassoon from a walking stick, I often resort to odd head movement at dance parties, and I still haven't submitted my Grade 5 Visual Art summative. But even if I can't boast about being the most talented person in the room, I am more than happy to witness and share with you a diverse selection of content that emphasizes the journalistic, innovative and creative talent of the brilliant minds that Pause aims to represent

Although I have regretted being appointed the Editor-in-Chief of Pause at times (namely when I'm editing submissions at 1 am), I would still remain thankful of this incredible opportunity to represent the student body through Pause Magazine's first submission in the academic year 2021-2022. The standard that this publication has reached today would be impossible without your submissions, because at the end of the day, Pause is an expression of you. From all of us here at Pause team, thank you for your support and we hope you look forward to a new era of Pause.

Sincerely,

Ali Khan
